Assam partners with six organisations to bring AI into School Education

The Assam government has taken a major step towards integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technology into school education, signing MoUs with six organisations to support teachers, students and learning systems across the state. The initiative is aimed at creating a more technology-enabled, inclusive and learner-centric education ecosystem.

Under the partnership with Google AI, teachers will receive training in AI-powered educational tools, digital skills and professional development. A separate collaboration involving IIT Madras and Bodhan AI plans to build AI capabilities among teachers, with around one lakh educators from Classes 6 to 12 targeted for training by May 2027.

The government has also partnered with LEHS-Wadhwani AI to use AI-enabled assessments for improving students’ foundational literacy and reading fluency. Meanwhile, EkStep-AXL will support personalised learning in foundational literacy and numeracy.

Another partnership with Educate Girls will focus on identifying, enrolling and retaining out-of-school adolescents, particularly girls. Canva Education will contribute towards digital literacy, creativity, design thinking and innovation among teachers and students.

The initiative reflects Assam’s growing focus on using technology to improve classroom learning, strengthen teacher capabilities and expand educational access. By combining AI tools with teacher training and personalised learning approaches, the state aims to prepare students for a rapidly changing digital world.
