GEMS Education launches CBSE-IB school in coimbatore for 2027–28

GEMS Education has announced the launch of GEMS Modern Academy in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, offering both Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum pathways on a single campus. The school is scheduled to welcome its first batch of students in the 2027–28 academic year, with admissions opening on October 20, 2026.

Located in Vellakinar, Coimbatore, the school aims to provide families with a choice between the nationally recognised CBSE curriculum and the internationally oriented IB programme. The dual-curriculum model is designed to combine strong academic foundations with inquiry-based learning, critical thinking and students’ overall development.

According to GEMS Education, the campus will bring its international educational experience and academic expertise to Coimbatore, a city known for its manufacturing, engineering, textile, healthcare and technology sectors.

Francis Joseph, India CEO of GEMS Education, said the school would offer families a choice of curricula while creating a learning environment that connects local educational needs with global opportunities.

The school will follow a teacher-first and child-first approach, with an emphasis on academic achievement, creativity, student wellbeing and character development. The institution aims to provide learning experiences that support students’ academic, social and emotional growth.

The launch reflects the growing demand for schools that offer international learning pathways alongside established Indian curricula. By bringing CBSE and IB options together on one campus, GEMS Education aims to provide families with greater flexibility in choosing an educational pathway suited to their children’s learning needs and future aspirations.
