Uttarakhand partners with Kotak Education Foundation to build teachers’ AI skills

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Uttarakhand, has entered into a partnership with the Kotak Education Foundation (KEF) to strengthen teachers’ understanding and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), SCERT’s IT Department and KEF will work together on developing digital content, designing online courses and providing technical support for teacher training. The courses are expected to be made available through platforms including DIKSHA, UK e-Srijan and Mission Karmayogi.

The collaboration will focus on adapting KEF’s AI Course for Educators for teachers across Uttarakhand. The programme is designed as a self-paced professional development course with three levels — Basic, Intermediate and Advanced — allowing educators with different levels of digital familiarity to participate.

The training will introduce teachers to practical applications of AI in areas such as lesson planning, assessment and differentiated instruction. The initiative will also explore the use of emerging digital technologies and new teaching approaches to improve classroom engagement and support student learning.

SCERT Director (Academic Research and Training) Bandana Garbyal welcomed the partnership, saying it would support the development of AI-enabled learning opportunities for teachers, including those working in remote parts of the state. The collaboration is also expected to contribute to student innovation initiatives, including support for Innovate Uttarakhand Hackathon 3.0.

KEF has previously implemented its AI-focused teacher training model in Maharashtra. Its AI Saathi for Educators course, developed with SCERT Maharashtra, is available through DIKSHA and has reached more than 7.5 lakh teachers in the state.

The Uttarakhand partnership is expected to expand access to structured AI training for teachers while encouraging the integration of technology and digital pedagogies into school education across the state.
